Dominican Republic Humanitarian Trip
Dr. Holbrook and family joined with Ayuda Dental and the Dominican Starfish Foundation and many other dentists and families to bring dental care to the indigent people of the Dominican Republic. But not only that, they served them by bringing them hygiene supplies, clothing, towels, toys and baseball equipment. They taught hygiene classes, demolished and rebuilt homes, painted homes and delivered food packets to small villages. Dr. Holbrook said, “It was a pleasure serving them and an experience our family will never forget.”
Mother’s Day “Mothering Bags”
Just Because is a an organization that one woman started in her garage. She is now serving thousands of people in the DFW area, including children, who are in need of food, water, clothing and other things. The “mothering bags” are for pregnant homeless girls who choose to give their babies up for adoption. When they leave the hospital, they often have nothing, so the mothering bags are full of hygiene items, snacks, water, and more. It was a pleasure to put these together. Their facebook page can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/youmatterjustbecause/
Senior Center “Lunch and Learn”
It is always a pleasure to go to the Senior Center in Flower Mound to help education people and answer questions. We had a lot of fun with our photo booth while we were there.
Cumberland Presbyterian Children’s Home
This is definitely a special place. They take in children usually 11-18 yrs. who have to be removed from their families for safety reason. They also allow single mothers to live here temporarily while they try to find work to better their situations. https://www.cpch.org/
“Fall Food Drive” with the CCA
We always LOVE to join forces with Christian Community Action. This is a wonderful organization that has helped thousands of individuals over the years. We felt privileged to have great support from our patients to bring in food so that others could enjoy a nice holiday meal. For more information: https://ccahelps.org/
